Fixes
GRAVHOUNDS not working
If solo will not start, open Tutorial from the main menu instead of Multiplayer. If a build prompt blocks you, extend the pipeline from the Collector. DirectX 12 is required. Low frame rate in big fights is a known launch issue.
Tutorial will not start
The dev log is explicit: multiplayer can skip the tutorial, solo cannot. If you clicked Multiplayer, back out and choose Tutorial. That is the whole first fix. There is no second menu hidden behind it in the notes we have.
DirectX 12
Steam lists DirectX 12. The Xbox page says DirectX 12 with feature level 11 on the minimum row. I have no official table of error codes, so I will not invent one. If the GPU is older than a GTX 1660 or RX 590, the store minimum is the line to compare against.
Low frame rate
The 2 Nov launch post names hitching during intense combat, large waves, and heavy infrastructure, and says PC and Xbox are still being optimized. Xbox Nation and AltChar both describe Series X performance as solid, with a 60 fps target. Lower the resolution before you cover the map in turrets. That is a practical cut, not a measured preset from the studio.
Other launch notes
- Non-English text can overlap or drop strings. The launch post lists that. Switching the game to English is the workaround they imply.
- Join failures: menu, reconnect, then a fresh host session.
- Two turrets on one node was a demo bug fixed in Demo Patch 1. If it returns, that is a regression, not the old demo behavior.
FAQ
Why can’t I start the tutorial?
The first menu item is Multiplayer. Tutorial is the next entry. The 7 Oct dev log says solo must finish the tutorial. Pick Tutorial directly.
What does “position over a build node” mean?
You are trying to place a structure where the pipeline has not ended. Extend the pipe, then build on that node.
It asks for DirectX 12 and closes.
The floor is DirectX 12. The Xbox spec adds hardware feature level 11 and Windows 10 build 18362. Update Windows and the GPU driver, then compare your card with the requirements.
Friends cannot join.
Sessions are player-hosted. The launch post says to reconnect from the main menu, then have the host make a new session. Steam and Xbox do not share players.
