What “preview” changes

Mike Nelson’s Xbox Wire piece on 27 Aug 2026 said the game would arrive in Game Preview and on Game Pass. The store URL still uses that Game Preview name.

You do not need a separate purchase if your subscription includes the title. If you leave Game Pass, the license follows the subscription, which is different from a Steam purchase you keep.

Achievements, cloud saves, and Play Anywhere are on the Xbox feature list. There is no redeem code for Game Pass access.

FAQ

Which Game Pass tiers include GRAVHOUNDS?

The live Xbox page names PC Game Pass and Ultimate. Rogueliker also reports Ultimate and PC only. The Xbox page says Essential or Premium cloud streaming requires a separate game purchase; those tiers should not be presented as including the game.

Is the Game Pass version the same as Steam?

Both are the 2 Nov 2026 launch. Steam is Early Access. Xbox is Game Preview. They do not share players. See cross-play.

Can I buy it instead?

Yes. The Xbox list price is $19.99. Steam’s intro price is on the download page.

What does Game Preview mean?

It is Xbox’s early-access label. The developer FAQ still estimates about six months before 1.0, and that window can run longer.
