Why the question comes up

The cast is bio-engineered canine workers. Xbox Wire and the Steam page both say you are the crew, not a human with a pet. People still ask because “can you pet the dog” is a habit from other games.

A community wiki reaches the same “no pet interaction confirmed” line and lists howl, bark, fetch, and play dead. I treat that as agreement with the official pages, not as a second discovery. If a clip shows a pat animation, the status cell should move.

So there is no petting achievement?

No achievement list entry about petting appears in the sources used here. Xbox lists achievements as a feature, without naming this one.

Can you pet Coffee Cat?

Coffee Cat is an escort objective. The dev log says you heal her with the mining laser. That is not a pet interaction.

What is the plush dog?

lt3 describes a downed player turning into a plush that teammates carry back to the pipeline. That is a revive, not a pet button.

Could petting be added later?

Early Access is planned for about six months of additions. A pet action is not on the published plan. If footage appears, this page should change.
