Beginner guide

Your first GRAVHOUNDS shift

Finish Tutorial before starting solo play; the demo update lets multiplayer players skip it. Then land, find the Collector, lay a short pipeline, place a Fabricator on the first node, and protect the extraction route.

The loop in one pass

Xbox Wire describes the job as recovering resources, alien tech, or infrastructure on a planet that does not want you there. The Grav Beam is the hand. Pipeline is both a power line and a rail you can ride.

AltChar’s review starts a drop at the Collector, then building during combat. The dev log says two turrets cannot share one node after Demo Patch 1, and that Coffee Cat can be healed with the mining laser.

Stay close to the pipe on the first job. Long unsupported lines are how a first extract fails. When the haul is enough, leave. Staying for one more node is how the swarm rating climbs.

Mistakes that waste the first hour

  • Opening Multiplayer before Tutorial when you wanted solo.
  • Spending the first credits on turrets and skipping the Fabricator.
  • Stretching the pipeline to a far node with nothing in between.
  • Ignoring the Collector and mining loose rocks with nowhere to deliver.
  • Starting extract with the route behind you uncovered.

FAQ

What does the Grav Beam do?

It grabs resources, moves gear, places the Build Kit, and throws objects or enemies. The store page and Xbox Wire both describe that tool.

Why can’t I build yet?

Structures sit on pipeline nodes. If the prompt says to stand on a build node, the pipe has not reached that spot. Put the Fabricator on the first node.

What is a story mode?

Jobs come from COSMO. There is no separate campaign list published. The loop is job, drop, build, extract, with danger rising the longer you stay.

Which dog should a new player pick?

Any of the five. Kits are utilities, not locked classes. Named abilities are on characters.
